See the world's only mounted Kronosaurus, a 42 ft-long, 135 million year old, marine reptile. Don't miss the world famous exhibit of 3,000 Blaschka "Glass Flowers", exquisite glass art, flameworked models of plants so realistic that scientists used them as teaching models for decades. The museum is on the historic Harvard University campus, just a 7-8 minute walk from the Harvard Square Red Line T stop. Open 9 am to 5 pm daily, 361 days/year. Displaying 12,000 specimens including dinosaurs, meteorites, rare minerals, huge whale skeletons, and hundreds of animals from around the world, the Harvard Museum of Natural History is a 'must-see' for any visit to Boston or Cambridge. Located on the historic campus, just 7-8 minute walk from Harvard Square, the museum is the University’s most visited attraction. Explore 17 galleries including the world famous “garden” of Blaschka Glass Flowers – 3,000 handcrafted glass models of flowering plants, as well as the latest exhibition, New England Forests, the perfect prelude to any fall foliage trip. With signage, videos, and interactive displays throughout the galleries, visitors do not need a tour guide to enjoy the museum. Classes and labs for student groups of all ages and docent-guided tours of the Glass Flowers are available by advance reservation. The museum is open 9 am to 5 pm 361 days/year.
