Federal Realty Trust is a publicly traded REIT that owns and manages high quality retail shopping centers in key metro areas including Boston, Washington DC, and San Jose CA. At present the company owns over 85 properties within the United States. In the Boston market Federal Realty owns ten properties including Assembly Square in Somerville and Linden Square in Wellesley. Assembly Square is currently being redeveloped into a mixed use property that will include large scale retail, offices, and residences along the Mystic River. Federal Realty recently completed phase one of two phases in Wellesley with the opening of a new Roche Brothers, The Cottage, and several local and regional unique retailers.
