The Peabody Essex Museum presents art and culture from New England and around the world. The museum’s collections are among the finest of their kind, showcasing an unrivaled spectrum of New England art, architecture and maritime art, plus outstanding Asian, Asian export, Native American, Oceanic and photography collections. The museum campus features 24 historic properties, including period gardens and an 18th-century Chinese merchant’s house transported from China and reassembled at the museum. PEM offers special exhibitions, a family-friendly interactive center, an award-winning Museum Shop, and a café and restaurant. All education programs are developed by curriculum specialists and are presented by trained museum professionals who employ hands-on, inquiry-oriented methods that are tailored to your specific grade level.

Journey through New England's grand and storied past at the stunning Peabody Essex Museum in historic Salem, Mass, just 16 miles north of Boston. Explore the region's connections to the art and culture of China, Japan, India and beyond, and don't miss Yin Yu Tang, a 200 year-old Chinese house. Open Tuesday - Sunday and Holiday Mondays, 10 AM-5 PM Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Admission: $15 Adults; Seniors $13; Students 17 and older $11; Children 16 and under FREE. Residents of Salem enjoy free general admission and free admission to Yin Yu Tang. Special exhibitions may require an additional fee. The Peabody Essex Museum is located just north of Boston in Salem, Massachusetts. Visitors can easily access this historic, waterfront town by taking the MBTA commuter rail from North Station. Take the Green Line or Orange Line to North Station. Follow signs for the Commuter Rail. Purchase tickets for Salem on the Newbury-Rockport line. Once in Salem, the museum and other attractions are just a short walk from the rail station. To get to the museum follow the stairs to street level, head straight down Washington Street and take a left on Essex. The Museum will be on your right.
