BOSTON- Patrick B. Moscaritolo, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) has been inducted into the Massachusetts Lodging Association’s Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame award is the highest honor that the Mass Lodging Association gives to individuals in the visitor industry.

Moscaritolo was cited for his extraordinary leadership and contributions to the Boston visitor industry and the community. In addition to serving as President & CEO of the GBCVB since 1991, he also serves on the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Travel & Tourism, the Massachusetts Sports & Entertainment Commission, on the Board of Directors of the Back Bay Association, on the Crossroads Family Shelter Board of Advisors, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Boston Area Baseball Church League (BABCL). The BABCL was started by the Boston Red Sox and the Boston visitor industry four years ago and has served more than 2000 youth in Boston’s inner city neighborhoods. It was singled out last month by Major League Baseball as a model to keep young people involved in the sport of baseball.

“It’s been an honor and privilege to be a part of Boston’s visitor industry and to work with an incredible team of talented people at the Boston CVB. This award really reflects the Bureau’s contributions to our industry and I’m accepting this recognition on behalf of all my colleagues at the Bureau who have worked so hard to make Boston and Cambridge such a great destination,” said Moscaritolo.

Moscaritolo and the Bureau team, working with city and state officials, have over the years brought to Boston high profile events and conventions such as World Cup Soccer, Major League Baseball All Star Game, Tall Ships, Ryder Cup, Democratic National Convention, NCAA Basketball Women’s Final Four, and major industry meetings such as ASAE and NBTA. Under his leadership, the GBCVB has also won prestigious awards for outstanding service to convention planners and convention delegates, including a 2007 Gold Service Elite Award, naming the GBCVB as one of the top five CVBs in the world.

Moscaritolo, along with the GBCVB Board, the Massachusetts Visitor Industry Council, and the Massachusetts Lodging Association were instrumental in winning approval from the Massachusetts Legislature to build the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center which opened in 2004.

Prior to joining the Bureau as its President & CEO, Moscaritolo was the Deputy Executive Director of Massport and the Director of Logan International Airport. During his tenure, Logan Airport won a number of national awards for customer service including an award from Travel & Leisure Magazine for its passenger service initiative entitled “Airports Are for People Too”.
