THE WESTIN BOSTON WATERFRONT UNVEILS NEW 8,700 SQUARE FOOT BALLROOM

AS PART OF 45,000 SQUARE FOOT MEETING SPACE EXPANSION

BOSTON – April 3, 2008 – The Westin Boston Waterfront is pleased to announce the completion of its new 8,700 square-foot Harbor Ballroom. The ballroom’s opening marks the kick-off to the hotel’s 45,000 square-foot meeting space expansion. In addition to the ballroom, the expansion includes a 25,000 square-foot exhibit hall and five break-out rooms bringing the hotel’s overall meeting space capacity to 72,000 square-feet. Calling upon Boston ’s rich history, the hotel named each break-out room after a well-known
Boston wharf, including Burroughs, Carlton , Griffin , Lewis and Independence . Each room provides a snapshot of the wharf’s history at its entrance.

On Tuesday, March 25th, the hotel celebrated the opening of the Harbor ballroom by inviting over 200 meeting planners to be the first group to experience the space. “I was quite pleased with the Harbor ballroom and look forward to hosting events there in the near future,” states Marlene Petro, Director of Meetings and Continuing Education at Yankee Dental Congress. “This ballroom, along with the hotel’s completed expansion, makes it the perfect location for our meetings and attendees.”

Guests at the unveiling were treated to three different tasting menus from the hotel’s Executive Chef Pasquale Presa. Menu highlights included organic field greens with yellow fish tuna tartare, naturally grown beef medallions topped with bing cherrie compote, and orange grand marnier mousse. During the festivities, a king-size Westin Heavenly Bed Ò was given away to one lucky meeting planner.

Westin Boston Waterfront’s General Manager, David Connor, opened the evening stating, “This new ballroom is simply a natural evolution for the hotel, providing additional amenities and conveniences for the meetings’ market while still providing the intuitive service and refreshing touches the hotel and the Westin brand are known for. Our current space, coupled with our expansion helps to solidify The Westin Boston Waterfront as the ultimate in event destinations for meetings and conferences.”

The hotel will also be adding three new restaurants, as well as retail space to be defined by the end of 2008. In addition to structural expansion elements, the hotel will also be expanding its service programming by launching shuttle service in mid-April to and from the Financial District and Faneuil Hall Marketplace seven days a week.
