of the next two years, as they cope with loss of their husbands and struggle
to raise their families as single mothers, these extraordinary women
dedicate themselves to empowering Afghan widows whose lives have been
ravaged by decades of war, poverty, and oppression—factors they consider
to be the root of terrorism. As Susan and Patti make the courageous journey
from their comfortable homes to the most desperate Afghan villages, they
discover a powerful bond with each other, an unlikely kinship with widows on
the other side of the world, and a profound way to move beyond their
personal tragedies. Visit www.mfa.org for

Boston Women's Heritage Trail
The
Women's lives and achievements have enriched the history of Boston for almost
four centuries, yet the significance of their stories is often
overlooked. Partriots, intellectuals, abolitionists, suffragists,
artists and writers - Boston women have always played an integral role in
shaping history. Boston Women's Heritage Trail (BWHT) is a nonprofit membership organization
founded in 1989 and dedicated to weaving the lives and work of women back into
the story of the City of Boston. The Trail publishes a Guidebook and brochures
of self-guided walks, a regular newsletter and teaching
materials, presents programs, hosts events and supports the work of
independent scholars. For more information call 617-522-2872 or visit www.bwht.org.
