Harvard Square Business Association and Cambridge Historical Tours proudly
present a day-long event celebrating Harvard Square book stores and the birth
of the Bard!
The Harvard Square Business Association, Cambridge Historical Tours and the book stores of Harvard Square welcome you to join us on Saturday, April 26th for the 7th Annual Bookish Ball and Shakespeare's Birthday Celebration. This free, family friendly festival will feature book store strolls, live music, Shakespearian performances, birthday cake and more!
The festivities kick off at 2pm in historic Winthrop Park with free Shakespeare in the Park performed by members of Cambridge Historical Tours and other talented local thespians!
At approximately 2:45, our "house" HONK! band, The Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band will lead a rousing procession to our next destination, John Harvard's Brew House (33 Dunster Street). Once inside, raise a pint with our actors as they perform some traditional toasts, and revel in Shakespearian sonnets, scenes, tributes and speech. To culminate the day, please join us for complimentary cake and ice cream at 4pm in Winthrop Park before visiting our unique book purveyors in the Square! Harvard Square is proud to be the home to the largest concentration of book stores and printed word shops in the region.
