Experience the Art of Summer at the ICA with Waterfront Concerts, Dance and Music Performances, Chef Demos, Dance Nights, and More

Ticket sales for our summer season begin Tuesday, May 14, for ICA members (Associate-level and above). Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, May 16. Tickets can be purchased online at icaboston.org or by phone at 617-478-3103.


ICA First Fridays
Fridays, June 7, July 5, Aug 2
5 – 10 pm

Art goes overtime on the first Friday of the month with guest DJs, live performance, gallery talks, specialty drinks, and more. The ICA’s Water Café offers a small plates menu and full bar, including specialty cocktails inspired by the museum''s current exhibitions. This summer''s line-up includes Summer Block Party (June 7), Surfin'' USA (July 5), and Urban Beach (Aug 2). Tickets: Free for members / $15 nonmembers. This is a 21+ event.

Harborwalk Sounds

A summer favorite returns! Berklee College of Music boasts some of the most talented students, alumni, and faculty at work in music today and there’s no better place to hear them than a summer evening at the ICA. Enjoy the best of both institutions with Harborwalk Sounds, a free series of concerts featuring rising stars in jazz, world, Latin, and more. Relax on the harbor with a refreshing drink from the Water Café and hot sounds from the coolest music school around.ICA members enjoy reserved seating at Harborwalk Sounds in our new Member Lounge! Admission to the ICA is always free on ICA Free Thursday Nights.

DJs on the Harbor

Make a splash! Boston’s best waterfront dance nights return to the ICA with a thrilling line-up of indie, hip-hop and world music.

  • Tanlines (Aug 9): Eric Emm and Jesse Cohen form the deeply personal and unique Brooklyn based synth-pop duo Tanlines. The music of their danceable eclectic Settings EP and 2012 album Mixed Emotions has been featured in Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vogue, and more.
  • Le1F (Aug 16): Khalif Diouf (Le1f) is a New York rapper and DJ. He has toured the world with his self-proclaimed gayngsta rap since the release of his debut mixtape, Dark York in 2012.
  • Pico Picante & Que Bajo?! (Aug 30): Pico Picantevoted "Best Dance Night" by DigBoston—is a collective of Boston-based DJs Pajaritos and Oxycontinental. They celebrate global dance music and encourage the dynamic intermingling of cultures. Uproot Andy and Geko Jones are DJs at the wildly popular tropical night Que Bajo?! in New York, where they spin a mix of electronically minded tropical and Latin dance music.
Tickets: $10 members + students / $15 nonmembers. This is a 21+ event.


Mark Kozelek
Sunday, June 9, 7 pm

Mark Kozelek, the iconic singer/songwriter and frontman of Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters, is renowned for his intense, highly autobiographical songs. He is playing a solo concert in support of his latest recording, Among the Leaves, his fifth full-length album under the Sun Kil Moon moniker. Played almost entirely on nylon-string guitar, this release finds Kozelek relaxed, singing playfully about his life as a musician, and displays a more raw and humorous side of his songwriting. Tickets: $22 members + students / $27 nonmembers. Co-presented with World Music/CRASHarts

Rashaun Mitchell, Stephin Merritt + Ali Naschke-Messing, Romance Study #1

Renowned choreographer Rashaun Mitchell, singer-songwriter Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields), and San Francisco–based visual artist Ali Naschke-Messing take up residency at Summer Stages Dance and the ICA this summer to collaborate on a new work, titled The Romance Studies. Get a sneak peek of the work-in-progress (Romance Study #1) on July 19, during which the artists will share movement, songs, materials, and ideas related to their new project. Tickets: $15 members + students / $25 nonmembers. This project is part of Co Lab: Process + Performance, a series commissioned and presented by the ICA and Summer Stages Dance at Concord Academy.
