Boston Harborfest will kick off Independence Day at one of Boston's most historic landmarks, Faneuil Hall Marketplace. The Annual Boston Harborfest Opening Ceremony will be held on July 2 at noon on the West End, and will feature the ceremonial cutting of the Harborfest cake, along with music from the US Navy Band and entertainment from the Jukebox Dancers.
Harborfest is a Fourth of July Festival that celebrates the colonial and maritime heritage of America's independence in Boston each year. The award-winning festival educates and honors the past with reenactments, concerts, historical tours and much more.
Over the years, Harborfest has grown from a local event to a national celebration. In 1982 there were 35 activities over the course of three days. Now in its 33rd year, Harborfest is considered to be the largest patriotic celebration in the nation with visitors enjoying more than 200 activities during the Festival.
