The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) hosts its annual gala on Saturday, November 8. The community is invited to celebrate the creative spirit in its many forms, dance until midnight, dress as you've always dreamed and support the museum's education initiatives, school outreach programs and special exhibitions. Tickets are now on sale at pem.org/gala.
In addition to bidding on auction items, enjoying an open bar and various musical offerings, attendees can enter a variety of artist-curated experiences. One such room will feature a hybrid sound and fashion installation created by New York fashion designer Gary Graham in collaboration with composer and performer Meredith Monk. During the 2013 Gala, the experience rooms included music by PEM Composer-in-Residence Matthew Aucoin and his collaborators, a multi-sensory eating experience created by MIT researcher Janice Wang and a demonstration of 3-D printed jewelry.
2014 Gala Chair Ana Colmenero said, "PEM is renowned for its celebration of art, culture and creative expression in its myriad forms. For this year's gala we're taking that celebration up a notch; pushing boundaries, taking risks, being daring and redefining what a gala can be."
