November 1:  Pianist András Schiff

Pianist András Schiff performs the Bach Goldberg Varations and the Beethoven Diabelli Variations in a solo recital that showcases his exploration of the two composers. One of the most prominent proponents of the keyboard works of J.S. Bach, Mr. Schiff has long proclaimed that Bach stands at the core of his music making.

November 1 - 3: Paul Taylor Dance Company

An icon of American dance returns to Boston to perform the Boston premiere of Perpetual Dawn (2013), plus Private Domain (1969) and Black Tuesday (2001). The Paul Taylor Dance Company, established in 1954, is one of the world's most highly respected and sought-after modern dance ensembles.

November 5: Benjamin Grovenor

 

In 2011 and 2012, Benjamin Grosvenor’s dazzling, sold-out performances at the BBC Proms were the talk of London’s critical community. Still in his early 20s, he signed to Decca Classics, and is the youngest British musician ever signed to the label.

November 13: Danish String Quartet

 

This remarkable young group—all are under age 30—has a unique history, having performed together since 2002, winning awards and being celebrated throughout Europe. Word of this meteoric Quartet has spread to the New World, and the ensemble was recently appointed to Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s CMS Two program.

November 17: Joshua Bell, violin

 

Often referred to as the "poet of the violin," Joshua Bell is one of the world's most celebrated violinists. He continues to enchant audiences with his breathtaking virtuosity, gorgeous tone, and charismatic stage presence. Bell is the Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the first person to hold this post since Sir Neville Marriner formed the orchestra in 1958.

November 21-22: Voight Lessons

 

Deborah Voigt is at her most personal and revealing in this 75-minute one-woman autobiographical program developed with playwright Terrence McNally and director Francesca Zambello. Voigt Lessons uses the beloved soprano’s personal story and professional career as the basis for a revealing and captivating script featuring Voigt singing songs and arias that have been important to her throughout her life.

November 24: Wayne Shorter 80th Birthday Celebration

 

An unparalleled lineup of jazz talent comes together to celebrate the great Wayne Shorter.
