September 10-October 19: "Dilated Biography: Contemporary Cuban Narratives" (Mrs. E. Ross Anderson Auditorium, Barbara + Steven Grossman Gallery, SMFA)

Guest curated by Jorge Antonio Fernández Torres, "Dilated Biography" features 15 Cuban artists who will examine the culture, politics and history of their native country through the lens of their personal experiences: Alexandre Arrechea, Javier Castro, Felipe Dulzaides, Juan Roberto Diago Durruthy, Luis Gárciga, Luis Gómez, Tony Labat, Dennis Izquierdo, Susana Pilar Delahante Matienzo, Reynier Leyva Novo, Tatiana Mesa Pajan, Eduardo Ponjuan, Wilfredo Prieto, Diana Fonseca Quinones, Grethell Rasúa.

September 9: Opening Reception (SMFA)

September 10: 2013 SMFA Beckwith Lecture: "The Perversion of Classics: The Anarchy of Narrations" (Alfond Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts)

Jorge Antonio Fernández Torres discusses the exhibition he co-curated for the Cuban pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale, 55th International Art Exhibition. Established in 1978 by Leo and Betty Beckwith (daughter Carol is an alumna), the Beckwith series was created to further SMFA student development by featuring artists and cultural thinkers of national and international stature. 1 pm

Through September 4: "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (Mission Hill building, SMFA)

An exhibition of work by SMFA graduate students completed during the summer of 2013.

September 4-18: "New Student Salon Show" (Weems Atrium, Project Space+ BAG Gallery, SMFA)

September 10-October 1: "Appetite Into Art" (Mission Hill bldg, SMFA)

Repetition is the foundation for rituals, memory, cycles of nature and even bodily functions. Oscar Wilde claims, "...repetition converts an appetite into an art." The show will explore the varied use of repetition in artistic practices. First in a series of exhibitions from the Graduate Curatorial Committee.

SMFA's celebrated annual sale has become a destination for art collectors and for those who simply love art. With thousands of works on a changing rotation, priced by the artists and sold to benefit student scholarships, the Sale is your opportunity to experience the exceptional caliber of work produced by SMFA students, alumni, faculty and more, and to experience the thrill of discovery. Opening reception: Nov 21, 5-8 pm; Hours: Nov 21-23, 10 am-8 pm; Nov 24, 10 am-5 pm.

Note: SMFA lectures at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) are free and open to the public. Attendees must obtain free tickets from a kiosk or ticket desk at the MFA to gain admittance.
