Devised collaboratively by the LAB ensemble, under the direction of Artistic Director Jason Slavick, ICARUS is an Americana Myth Musical. Based on the myth of the same name, ICARUS is set in a dark traveling side-show during the Great Depression. With young lovers, magical machines and monsters, it tells a tale of oppression and hope for a better future. ICARUS features innovative physical theatre and the fantastical puppetry of Faye Dupras.

ICARUS played to an overflow house at Outside The Box 2013 in Boston. It then won awards for Book and Design at the New York Musical Theatre Festival 2013 where The New York Times called it an "...intriguingly ominous showbiz fable" with "clever lyrics and a tangy score." It now returns in a new incarnation at the LAB's new home, OBERON.

With Boston's diverse community, the LAB is committed to expanding the audience for theatre. Artistic Director of the LAB, Jason Slavick, explains: "I'm excited to be making our work accessible to the deaf community. It's important to reach out to all kinds of people here in the Boston area. Too often, the deaf are excluded from great entertainment and I hope we'll be able to share our work with them."
