On Wednesday, June 25, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), presents Big Bang (2014), a performance by Guatemalan artist Regina José Galindo. The piece is staged five years following "the end of an era" for the US automobile industry-when General Motors filed for bankruptcy in June 2009 and deepened the financial downturn in the US and beyond. Many of those affected by the transnational company's collapse were employees of GM plants abroad, including workers from dozens of factories across the Americas. Big Bang addresses economic globalization and the increasingly interconnected dynamics of our global age.

The free event takes place 6-8 pm in the parking lot of the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art. Museum admission is by voluntary contribution Wednesday nights after 4 pm. This performance forms part of the exhibition Permission To Be Global/Prácticas Globales: Latin American Art from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection
