  • January 29, 2014 - January 29, 2014

On Wednesday, January 29th, 2014, from 6:30PM - 8:30PM, The Beehive's co-owner and resident curator Jennifer Epstein and special guest curator, gallery YES.OUI.SI co-founder, Olivia Ives-Flores will co-host the 17th installment in The Beehive's continuing art series entitled Sting! 17: Collective Creature 2.0featuring eleven Boston based emerging artists working with paint, video, photography and installation.  The exhibition highlights a 21st century interpretation of portraiture, the oldest universal subject of art, in the age of social media—our newest collective obsession.  A selection of artists who participated in the art-ing of Harvard Square’s Beat Hôtel have also adorned the walls of The Beehive, establishing a connection between the two sister restaurants.

The ongoing Sting! series always signifies the launch of a new art installation at The Beehive and highlights an evening of great live entertainment, food & libation specials along with amazing art! For this 17th installment, Jennifer Epstein joined forces with Olivia Ives-Flores to bring together a remarkable group of artists from all over New England. Guest curator Olivia Ives-Flores is an artist and entrepreneur currently living and working in Boston. Originally from New York City, Olivia found her love for the arts at a young age having been introduced to museums by her artistic parents. She attended college at the School of Museum of Fine Arts and finished at Tufts University in Boston. The summer before she graduated, Olivia and a group of her friends decided to open their own gallery, YES.OUI.SI. This creative agency lives for bringing people together around art, both in the physical and digital world. Olivia spends her time cultivating beauty by curating exhibitions, telling stories, building brands and making Boston a more artful city. More information about Olivia and her work can be found at http://www.oliviaives-flores.com.

Performance by Tammy Scheffer Trio:

Join us for an evening at The Beehive with great food, cool art, and a special live musical performance by the Tammy Scheffer Trio. Raised in Belgium and Israel, vocalist and composer Scheffer’s music combines influences of contemporary jazz with her own expressive voice and a strong sense of melody. Growing up in a musical family, Tammy was first introduced to jazz music in high school, and started performing professionally at the age of 18. Influenced and encouraged by the instrumentalists she worked with, Tammy absorbed their approach to improvisation and composition and embraced the freedom of instrumental jazz.
