The Beehive Celebrates ‘Gay Father’s Day’

South End Restaurant Honors Both Father’s Day and Gay Pride

On Sunday June 15th, 2014 from 6:00PM – 12:30AM Boston restaurant, The Beehive, will celebrate ‘Gay Father’s Day,’ a unique event taking advantage of the final day of Boston’s annual Gay Pride celebration falling on Father’s Day. Known for its daily live music and award-winning food, the South End restaurant will feature two live performances honoring the divas of soul including Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Etta James, Gladys Knight, Dinah Washington and many more.

The first act of the night from 6:00PM – 8:00PM will feature soul & jazz artist, Nadia Washington. Sure to charm the audience with her smooth, velvet-cloaked vocals, Washington will pay tribute to the divas with her own flair, asher style incorporates a fusion of many different musical avenues. Blues piano man Bruce Bears will follow from 8:30PM – 12:30AM, featuring special guest performances from some of Boston's best jazz, blues & soul female vocalists including Toni Lynn Washington. Bears will likely put his own spin on the evening as well, known for his keyboard tricks.  

Guests are welcome for a full dinner, or to choose from The Beehive’s collection of cocktails and snacks at the bar while enjoying the show. Executive Chef Marc Orfaly will be serving ‘Hive favorites including Tuna Tartare, soy, seaweed, flying fish roe ($17), Mussels Marinara, grilled bread, torn basil ($15), Diver Scallops with peas and pea tendrils & ginger Thai chili broth ($33) as well as Braised Beef Short Ribs with parsley root purée, morels, peas and radish ($27). Top off the night with extra fruity cocktails celebrating gay pride such as the “Ricky Martini,” “Queen Bea Arthur,” and the “Rummy Bear,” all made with added sass.
