Founded in 1815, H&H is America's oldest continuously performing arts organization and is one of this country's premier period instrument orchestra and professional chorus, and a leader in Historically Informed Performance. H&H occupies a vibrant and active place in the region's cultural classical music community, standing at the musical forefront, giving the American premiere concerts of such important works as Handel's Messiah in 1818 and Haydn's The Creation in 1819.
