Displaying 12,000 specimens including dinosaurs, meteorites, rare minerals, huge whale skeletons, and hundreds of animals from around the world, the Harvard Museum of Natural History is a 'must-see' for any visit to Boston. Located on the historic campus, just 7-8 minute walk from Harvard Square, the museum is the University’s most visited attraction. Explore 17 galleries including the world famous Blaschka Glass Flowers – 3,000 handcrafted glass models of flowering plants, plus New England Forests, the perfect prelude to any fall foliage trip.
With signage, videos, and interactive displays throughout the galleries, visitors do not need a tour guide to enjoy the museum. Classes and labs for student groups of all ages and docent-guided tours of the Glass Flowers are available by advance reservation. The museum is open 9 am to 5 pm 361 days/year.
