The Newport Mansions offer visitors a unique trip through America’s past. Audio tours at The Breakers, The Elms & Marble House bring you the personal stories of the men and women who lived in these grand mansions and the household staff who cared for them. Discover where the Duke of Marlborough proposed to his future Duchess at Marble House, Newport’s own Downtown Abbey. The Breakers Childrens’ Tour introduces kids to the great house from a unique and whimsical perspective. A unique Servant Life Tour at The Elms will take you from the coal tunnel in the basement to the rooftop terrace. And don’t miss the enchanting Green Animals Topiary Garden, with more than 80 sculpted trees and shrubs set on a Victorian estate. From the colonial Hunter House to Rosecliff, the Gilded Age palace built by a Nevada silver heiress, the 10 houses of The Preservation Society of Newport County reveal more than 250 years of the American Story.
Located 50 miles south of Boston, touring is available year round with three houses open and decorated for the holiday season. Audio tours of The Breakers, The Elms and Marble House are available in English, French, German & Spanish. Chinese audio tours also available at The Breakers & Marble House.
