Medfield (New Dedham) was originally a part of Dedham, which was incorporated in 1636. The film Shutter Island started filming at Medfield State Hospital in March 2008. On the third Saturday of September, Medfield Employers & Merchants Organization hosts Medfield Day in Medfield Center, which is an annual celebration of the town.
