The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau is excited to
partner with Revolution250 to promote important anniversaries and special
events related to the American Revolution.
This summer Boston embarks on a decade-long series of 250th
anniversary events celebrating the city's seminal role in the fight for
American Independence. A collaborative
forum called Revolution 250 - comprised of historians, historic sites,
non-profit organizations and cultural tour groups - has come together to
conceptualize, develop and promote programming and special events associated
with key anniversaries.

Jolin will be responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing initiatives to promote and sell Boston to the China market, as well as developing new business relationships for GBCVB member companies.

Governor Deval Patrick and members of The Heritage Guild will unveil and dedicate a new plaque in a brief ceremony in the North End Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway to honor Zipporah Potter Atkins, the first African-American to buy property in Boston. Zipporah is the only 17th century woman of African descent known to have purchased land in Boston.The Heritage Guild research revealed that Zipporah Potter Atkins (c1645-1705) was born free - atypical for Africans in Massachusetts who were more often enslaved during that time. In 1670, she purchased her house and land on a site that is now the Rose Kennedy Greenway. She remained a North End resident until 1699 when she sold her house and became the first woman of African-descent to sign her initials on a Deed in Suffolk County.

Held annually on Patriots' Day, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events. The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has managed and organized the Boston Marathon since the event's inception in 1897.

BOSTON, MA (April 3, 2014): In 2008, the Fog Museum at Harvard University, located in Cambridge, MA, closed its doors to the public for the first time since opening in 1927. The museum has been undergoing a major renovation and expansion over the past eight years. The public opening, scheduled for November 2014, will showcase the new Harvard Art Museum. This new structure will bring together the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M. Sackler Museums and their collections all under one roof for the first time.
