(Boston, MA), February 25,2014 - Paul J. Sacco, President & CEO of the Massachusetts Lodging Association has been named to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) 2014 board of directors, representing the Partner State Association segment. The new board of directors is comprised of C-level lodging executives representing the full scope of the lodging sector, including brands, owners and REITS, management companies, independents, and state associations. A new board was selected to reflect the completely new strategic direction and membership model passed last June by a vote of association members.

Washington, D.C. - Jan. 28, 2014 - U.S. News & World Report, a nationally recognized publisher of consumer advice and information, today released the 2014 Best Hotels rankings. For the first time, the Lodge at Sea Island in Sea Island, Ga., is the No. 1 hotel in the USA. Tortuga Bay in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic holds onto its spot as the Best Hotel in the Caribbean for the second year in a row. Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués in Acapulco jumped up four places since last year to be the No. 1 Best Hotel in Mexico, and the Ritz-Carlton, Montreal seized the top spot in the 2014 ranking of the Best Hotels in Canada

Debuting in March 2014, Dine Out Boston will be held March 16-21 and March 23-28.

Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 10, 2013) - The International Skating Union (ISU) announced today that U.S. Figure Skating has been awarded a provisional allotment to host the 2016 ISU World Figure Skating Championships March 28-April 3, at TD Garden in Boston. The Skating Club of Boston will work locally with U.S. Figure Skating to host the event.

BOSTON, MA: The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) is pleased to announce it has elected David R. Giblin, a 30-year Marriott veteran, as the 2012 Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Giblin has served on the GBCVB Board since 2006. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) and the Mass Lodging Association (MLA), and is a Trustee of Marlborough Hospital / UMass Memorial.

BOSTON, MA: For the third consecutive year, Boston & Cambridge have been named the Top Destination in the United States for International Association Meetings by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). In 2010, Boston & Cambridge hosted a record number of 43 international meetings (up from 36 the previous year), making it the number one destination for international association meetings in the United States. The economic impact of these international meetings to the Boston and Cambridge economies is in excess of $60 million. The 43 groups primarily utilized hotels in greater Boston, with one using the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and three using the Hynes Convention Center.

With a nod to sustainability and the modern budget traveler, Hostelling International USA (HI-USA) will officially open its new Boston hostel this June as the first LEED certified accommodations in the city. The facility is aiming to be the first LEED Gold hostel in the country. The new hostel will be located in the heart of downtown Boston at the intersection of the midtown cultural district, Theatre District, and Chinatown.

BOSTON - Long known as a major international destination, Boston & Cambridge will become even easier to visit by visitors from Asia with the launch of non-stop service between Tokyo and Boston. "The new nonstop Japan Air Lines flight from Tokyo to Boston, beginning on April 22, 2012 will drive growth in Japanese visitors to Boston and New England in 2012 and beyond. It will also help to increase market share from the rest of Asia as Asian markets - Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, and 17 other markets - have frequent service to Tokyo's Narita International Airport where Boston's new 13.5 hour non-stop flight will depart from," said Patrick Moscaritolo, President & CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB).
