Boston, MA (May 20, 2014): The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) announced today that Jolin Zhou has been named the Tourism Marketing & Sales Manager -China for the GBCVB. Jolin will be responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing initiatives to promote and sell Boston to the China market, as well as developing new business relationships for GBCVB member companies. 

Governor Deval Patrick and the Heritage Guild Unveil Plaque on the Rose Kennedy Greenway

Governor Deval Patrick and members of The Heritage Guild will unveil and dedicate a new plaque in a brief ceremony in the North End Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway to honor Zipporah Potter Atkins, the first African-American to buy property in Boston.  Zipporah is the only 17th century woman of African descent known to have purchased land in Boston.The Heritage Guild research revealed that Zipporah Potter Atkins (c1645-1705) was born free - atypical for Africans in Massachusetts who were more often enslaved during that time. In 1670, she purchased her house and land on a site that is now the Rose Kennedy Greenway.  She remained a North End resident until 1699 when she sold her house and became the first woman of African-descent to sign her initials on a Deed in Suffolk County.

BOSTON, MA (May 8, 2014) - On Wednesday, May 14, the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau will join state tourism leaders and legislators who will come together to foster awareness of Massachusetts' third largest industry during Tourism Day at the State House in Boston.  Tourism Arts & Culture Development Committee chairs, Representative Cory Atkins and Senator Kathleen O'Connor-Ives are expected to speak at the event, along with Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism director, Betsy Wall.

2014 Boston Marathon® Will Mean $175.8 Million for Greater Boston Economy

BOSTON, April 14, 2014 - The 118th Boston Marathon® on Monday, April 21, 2014, and surrounding Marathon-related events including the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo and the B.A.A. 5K, will bring an estimated $175.8 million in spending impact to the Greater Boston region, the highest-ever Boston Marathon spending impact, according to Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) President and CEO, Patrick Moscaritolo. Held annually on Patriots' Day, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events. The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has managed and organized the Boston Marathon since the event's inception in 1897.

Fogg Museum Re-Opens After Three Year Renovation

BOSTON, MA (April 3, 2014):  In 2008,  the Fog Museum at Harvard University, located in Cambridge, MA, closed its doors to the public for the first time since opening in 1927.  The museum has been undergoing a major renovation and expansion over the past eight years.  The public opening, scheduled for November 2014, will showcase the new Harvard Art Museum.  This new structure will bring together the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M. Sackler Museums and their collections all under one roof for the first time.

2014 Season of Greenway Mobile Eats Opens April 1st

March 18, 2014 - BOSTON, MA - The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy ( today announced a record line-up of 30 food trucks and trikes, including 15 new vendors and four food truck debuts, for the 2014 season of Greenway Mobile Eats.  Beginning Tuesday, April 1st, the largest ever number of vendors in five years of Mobile Eats will offer a wide variety of fresh, affordable cuisine at six different vending locations along the Rose Kennedy Greenway seven days a week.

(Boston, MA), February 25,2014 - Paul J. Sacco, President & CEO of the Massachusetts Lodging Association has been named to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) 2014 board of directors, representing the Partner State Association segment.  The new board of directors is comprised of C-level lodging executives representing the full scope of the lodging sector, including brands, owners and REITS, management companies, independents, and state associations.  A new board was selected to reflect the completely new strategic direction and membership model passed last June by a vote of association members.  

U.S. News & World Report Announces the 2014 Best Hotels

Washington, D.C. - Jan. 28, 2014 - U.S. News & World Report, a nationally recognized publisher of consumer advice and information, today released the 2014 Best Hotels rankings. For the first time, the Lodge at Sea Island in Sea Island, Ga., is the No. 1 hotel in the USA. Tortuga Bay in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic holds onto its spot as the Best Hotel in the Caribbean for the second year in a row. Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués in Acapulco jumped up four places since last year to be the No. 1 Best Hotel in Mexico, and the Ritz-Carlton, Montreal seized the top spot in the 2014 ranking of the Best Hotels in Canada
