Boston chosen for the world tourism cities federation membership
 
The World Tourism Cities Federation has chosen Boston as its fifth US city for membership.

On December 5, 2013, Yan Han, Deputy Secretary-General of the WTCF, came to Boston to officially present Patrick Moscaritolo, President  & CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau and Christopher Cook, Director of the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events with membership in the World Tourism Cities Federation.

The World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) is the first international tourism organization that focuses on cities. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization formed by tourism cities and tourism-related organizations of various countries and regions of the world. The WTCF is dedicated to promoting tourism development around the world. At present, 107 world-renowned tourism cities and organizations are members of the Federation.

Boston is a worldwide leader in healthcare, finance, biotechnology and education. In 2012 Boston welcomed over 1,250,000 overseas visitors and is recognized worldwide as one of America's top destinations.

Boston is also home to more than 50 colleges and universities with more than 250,000 enrolled students. In 2013 more than 41,258 international students were enrolled in colleges in Boston and Massachusetts. Over the last 6 years the growth in international students attending colleges and universities in Boston and Massachusetts has risen 168%.

Bureau President & CEO Patrick Moscaritolo and Christopher Cook, Director of the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events officially signed the WTCF membership documents and agreements.
