You have to visit Boston Massachusetts in the spring—it’s Boston’s favorite season. As the weather turns nice, this New England city bursts to life. The locals bask in the newfound sunshine and the excitement is palatable.
For the locals, spring in Boston really begins with the first pitch at Fenway Park. One by one, you’ll see the shops on Boston's Newbury Street prop their doors open and the bars and restaurants set up their outdoor patios. A walk through Boston’s Public Garden is a must when the flowers bloom just in time for the Flower Show.
To the north, the colonial towns of Salem and Ipswich Massachusetts come out of their winter’s nap. To the south, Cape Cod gets its first beachgoers of the year over Memorial Day weekend. The winter quickly becomes but a memory.
The season’s signature event? The annual Boston Marathon. When the runners take to the streets as the city celebrates Patriot’s Day, you’ll know spring is truly here.
Boston in the springtime. No city celebrates the spring season better than Boston.

What to Wear:
Bostonians dress smartly and simply. The weather can be unpredictable. Wear layers that can be removed or added. An umbrella is a good idea for May showers.
Day: If you’re touring, wear comfy shoes for walking. Depending how early in the season you visit, you may want a heavier jacket.
Evening: Consider your agenda; the theater tends to be dressier and some upscale restaurants require jackets. It can get chilly in the evening.
