Weather adjustments to Salem So Sweet
Salem's February festival schedule delayed by impending storm
Impending weather conditions have led organizers of the annual Salem So Sweet festival to reschedule the Chocolate & Wine Tasting event and delay the installation of sixteen ice sculptures by one day. Salem Trolley tours of the ice sculptures will run on Sunday only.
The Salem So Sweet Chocolate & Wine Tasting, planned for February 8, has been postponed until Friday February 15 at 6:30 PM at Colonial Hall at Rockafellas. Pre-sold tickets will be fully transferable, and people who are unable to attend, can choose to receive a refund or make a donation to Salem Main Streets for the same amount. Tickets, which cost $25, are still available for the event on February 15. Tickets can be purchased at the Salem Chamber of Commerce, 265 Essex Street. The Chocolate & Wine Tasting is expected to sell out.
Installation of sixteen ice sculptures will begin in the afternoon on Saturday, February 9, and all ice sculptures will be on view by 10:00 AM Sunday, February 10. The sculptures are expected to be on view through Valentine's Day! Ice sculptures will include an engagement ring, the Taj Mahal, The Salem State University Viking, an octopus, a Valentine Teddy, and others.
The Salem Trolley will not be offering trolley rides on Saturday, February 9. Trolley hours for Sunday, February 10 have been extended to 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, weather permitting. Adult rides will cost $1, and children are free. Pick up locations include the Salem Visitor Center, Pickering Wharf and Washington Street near Eastern Bank.
The Golden Ticket contest will go on as planned, beginning February 8 and running through February 14. Golden Tickets can be picked up at participating businesses or the Salem Chamber of Commerce. Tickets that have been validated at participating businesses (no purchase necessary) can be returned for entry into a drawing for a Salem's So Sweet gift basket which features many fine items from area retailers.
Restaurants and retailers will be offering chocolate samplings and great discounts throughout the weekend, with some promotions continuing until February 14th.
Salem So Sweet is presented by The Salem Chamber of Commerce, Salem Main Streets, and local retailers, restaurants and businesses. For more events and details about the festival visit Salem-Chamber.org.
