The Museum of African American History commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and of the Massachusetts 54th Regiment, the first black soldiers from the north to serve in the American Civil War with FREEDOM RISING 2013. A new exhibition and yearlong programming, including lectures, concerts, Teacher Summer Institutes and children's events in celebration of the roles of Boston's black and white abolitionists in these monumental historic events.
