Effective March 22nd, 2014, Government Center Station will be closed for two years while crews work to completely rebuild the station into a fully accessible, safer, and more customer-friendly transit facility. The Government Center Station Project will combine improvements to the Green Line Station, Blue Line Station, and Cambridge Street/Government Center Plaza, that will bring Government Center Station into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities ACT (ADA) and athe Boston Center for Independent Living (BCIL) Agreement.
During the station closure, both Blue and Green Line trains will pass through Government Center Station but will not stop there . If your trip usually included Government Center Station, please allow an additional ten to fifteen minutes for your travel.
Here are some travel options:
Transferring to the Blue Line: Exit at Haymarket Station and transfer to the Orange Line toward Forest Hills (southbound), go one stop and make the Blue Line Connection at State Street station.
Destination Government Center: Exit at State Street station and walk up to Court Street.
Transferring to the Green Line Trains: At State Street station transfer to the Orange Line toward Oak Grove (northbound), go one stop and make the Green Line transfer at Haymarket Station.
Bowdoin Station will remain open during all hours of service.
To Logan Airport from the Copley Square/Back Bay area: Proceed to Back Bay Station and take the Orange Line inbound and make the Blue Line connection at the State Street station.
From South Station: The Silver Line SL1 Bus
Passengers should allow extra travel time during this closure.
