Tasty Burger, which also has locations in Harvard Square, South Boston, and outside the park in the Fenway area, now dishes out its upscale patties in a new stand on the Third Base Deck. The burgers include a plain 1/3 lb with lettuce and tomato, a cheeseburger, and a burger topped with a spicy cheese sauce and a roasted jalapeno. I tried the Tasty Burger cheeseburger, and it lived up to its name. It was charred outside, pleasantly pink inside, and was wedged between a fresh sesame seed bun.
The fancy-shmancy burgers are definitely a step up from standard park fare. At $8 for a cheeseburger, the price is pretty fancy-shmancy as well. But hey, it's Fenway! Fans expect to pony up some extra cash for in-park food. To wash down the burgers, Tasty Burger also offers milkshakes, including a Green Monster Mint flavor.
There are plenty of other goodies for sale at Fenway. Of course, you could buy yourself some peanuts and Cracker Jack. But did you know you could get a corned beef sandwich on marble rye? You can. Among other surprising culinary finds at the ballpark, you could also get fried clams and clam chowder from the legendary Legal Sea Foods.
Win or lose, it's always great to see the Red Sox play at Fenway. (Unfortunately, the hometown team has been losing a fair amount of games this season, but I wouldn't count the reigning World Series champs out just yet.) And one of the joys of visiting the park is sampling the food.
