On March 30, 1958, Alvin Ailey led a group of young African-American modern dancers in a now-fabled performance at the 92nd Street Y in New York City that forever changed the perception of American dance. And in 1968, Celebrity Series of Boston first presented the Ailey company in what has become an annual tradition and celebration.
"...So far under Mr. Battle's direction it has been smooth sailing for the Ailey company..." —THE NEW YORK TIMES
"...Mr. Battle has made a point to expand the company’s repertory..."
