The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), celebrates Art in Bloom from Friday, April 28 to Monday, May 1, 2017. For more than 40 years, Garden Clubs and professional designers from across New England have come to the Museum to celebrate spring by creating floral interpretations of masterpieces in the MFA’s collection. Displayed throughout the Museum's galleries, 50 arrangements are inspired by art from ancient to contemporary.
Pairing fine art and floral design, this year's activities include free daily tours of the arrangements as well as design demonstrations and outdoor walking tours. Private group tours are offered Friday to Monday with advance purchase. New this year, the Art in Bloom Cafe is offered in the Koch Gallery of European painting and Hanoverian silver.
Famed author and floral designer Ariella Chezar—celebrated for her painterly flower arrangements—presents master classes on Saturday, April 29, and a lecture and flower demonstration on Sunday, April 30. Additional activities include an Ikebana presentation on Japanese floral aesthetics and a family-friendly Community Day on Sunday, April 30.
Tickets for Art in Bloom are on sale February 23 at 10 am.
