Boston Lyric Opera, New England’s largest opera company and Castle of our Skins, the concert and education organization dedicated to celebration Black artistry through music, join forces to showcase the lives and stories of Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., and Paul Robeson through the music of opera. Paired with spoken word, art songs, spirituals and history, the lives of these social justice leaders—and other legendary liberators—take center stage. Performances feature the music of composers Nkeiru Okoye, Adolphus Hailstork, Dorothy Rudd Moore and Undine Smith Moore.
