In the 1870s Boston residents, celebrated authors, and intellectuals joined forces to save Old South Meeting House from demolition using exhibits, fancy dress balls, and fairs to raise awareness and funds. This year’s Holiday Open House recalls one these fundraisers near its 140th anniversary: a farm-themed fair featuring a full-scale barn and a visit from Mother Goose held on December 5, 1877! Join us to honor our past with fun, farm-themed activities including carding wool with Historic New England staff. Visit www.osmh.org for daily schedule. This FREE public event is made possible with funding from the Lowell Institute.
