In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the Red Sox today announced their 2017 regular season schedule. The Red Sox will open at home for the first time in six years with a three-game interleague series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the first of four interleague series at the ballpark. The season opener marks only the second trip to Fenway Park for the Pirates (2005).
In addition to the Pirates, other National League Central clubs that will make trips to Fenway Park in 2017 include the Chicago Cubs April 28-30, and a two-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals August 15 and 16.
Interleague games on the road will take place in Milwaukee May 9-11, in St. Louis May 16 and 17, and in Cincinnati September 22-24. The Red Sox will also face the National League East Philadelphia Phillies with two games at Fenway Park June 12 and 13, followed by a second pair of games at Citizens Bank Park June 14 and 15.
The Red Sox are scheduled to play 76 games versus their American League East rivals, 19 games each against the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Tampa Bay Rays.
The Red Sox have the most number of home games in April and September (15 each) and the fewest in July (11). The club will play the final game of the regular season at home on Sunday, October 1, with the last of a four-game series against the Houston Astros.
The Red Sox play more games at Yankee Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards (10 each) than any other road venue. Following the first match-up June 6-8, the Red Sox visit Yankee Stadium August 11-13, and September 1-3. They host the Yankees three times: April 25-27, July 14-16, and August 18-20.
The Red Sox 2017 schedule is attached. Game times for the 2017 season, as well as the 2017 Spring Training schedule, will be finalized and announced at a later date. All dates included in the attached schedule are subject to change.
