Thursday, September 14 from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the Museum of Science Washburn Pavilion
Planning a group activity for your company, sports team, or with friends? Make your summer outing meaningful by participating in our first-ever team challenge fundraiser. On September 14, the Museum of Science invites teams of four to six people to work together to complete a challenge that will take brains, brawn, and...boats!
Test your wits as a team as part of this inaugural challenge, all while raising funds for the Museum! Each team is asked to commit to raising $4,500 - for a team of six, that's only $750 per person! Have your company sponsor, match or promote your fundraising efforts! Want to sign up as an individual? We can place you on a team and we will ask you to commit to the $750 only.
The funds raised by your team will support the Museum in our mission to make science available to everyone. What does the challenge involve? The challenge will run for approximately two hours, followed by The Duck Boat Bash After Party on the Washburn Pavilion scenically located on the Charles River. The day will begin with teams applying themselves to a physical, engineering Design Challenge. Work quickly, as this portion is timed, and the order in which teams finish is the order they will board the Duck Boats! Once aboard your Duck, teams will enjoy a 30-minute tour during which they will have to pay close attention to visual and audio clues. Teams will then return to the Museum and complete a mental challenge utilizing the information they gathered on the tour. Teams will be scored on the overall finishing time and number of correct solutions as they move through the challenge. We will award prizes for the top finishers, for the top fundraisers, and for best team spirit!
This year, with your help, we will raise $225,000 in support of the Museum of Science. Funds raised by The Amazing Duck Boat Challenge will directly support the Museum’s School Field Trip Program. A field trip to the Museum of Science provides an authentic, hands-on experience that empowers all students to be engaged science learners. Given the broad spectrum of STEM topics represented in our daily programming and exhibit spaces, a school field trip allows for a variety of tie-ins to Massachusetts and National science curriculum standards. Last year, more than 186,000 students were given the opportunity to visit the Museum of Science as part of the Field Trip program; with your help, we can continue to provide access for area students who might not otherwise have had the opportunity.
Team captains, register your teams of 4 - 6 people today! Individuals may also sign up and be assigned to a team at the Museum's discretion. Don't miss out on what promises to be an amazing experience!
