Join a National Park Service Ranger and the United States Coast Guard, for an unforgettable tour of Boston Light, America's oldest light station. During your 3 1/2 hour tour you will travel to the outer reaches of Boston Harbor to Little Brewster Island to visit the lighthouse and scale the 76 steps to the top. While on the boat, rangers will provide a historic account of Boston Harbor while you take in views of the city and the harbor. 

 

Tour Highlights:

 

  • An exciting boat ride to Little Brewster Island voyaging through the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area.

  • Narration, chronicling maritime traditions of Boston Harbor and island life, past and present.

  • Views of the park's three lighthouses: Graves Light, Long Island Head Light, and Boston Light.

  • A tour of Little Brewster Island, where you'll meet the US Coast Guard light keeper, view the light station structures like the cistern and oil house, and climb the 76 steps to the top of the tower for a close up look at Boston Light's Fresnel lens.

  • Opportunity to enjoy your own picnic lunch and take in the spectacular view of the harbor from its most recognized gateway. Explore the island's history, light tower and buildings or just relax and enjoy being on island time!

  • Two tours daily on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between June 17 and October 2. Please note adverse weather can force cancellations.

  • Tours depart from the Boston Harbor Islands Welcome Center on the Rose Kennedy Greenway (across from the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel.
