Gerald Peter “Jerry” Remy is an American Major League Baseball broadcaster and former Major League Baseball second baseman. Born November 8, 1952 Remy grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts. He was selected in the 8 th round of the January supplemental phase of the 1971 MLB draft by the California Angels.
Remy played three seasons with the Angels before being traded to his home town team, the Boston Red Sox. In 1978 Remy was selected for the MLB All-Star game. Remy would go on to play 7 seasons with the Red Sox before he retired in 1985.
In 1988 Remy started his new career, this time in broadcasting, working for the New England Sports Network (NESN), as a color commentator for Red Sox broadcasts. Remy along with his broadcast partner, Don Orsillo, went on to win four New England Emmy awards. In 2006 Remy was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame. Jerry, or as he is better known as, RemDawg just concluded his 30 th season providing color for the Red Sox.
