Head of the Charles
July 15, 2020 - The Head Of The Charles Regatta Board of Directors has announced that the Head Of The Charles will not be held as an on-water two-day event on the Charles River this October as it has for 55 years, but instead will be run as a global remote event. Read more of their official statement.
Since 1965, the Head of the Charles Regatta has brought thousands of rowers each year to the Charles River to compete in the largest 2-day regatta in the world. This year, more than 11,000 rowers from around the world will come to compete in the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta on October 19 & 20, 2019. The race attracts up to 225,000 spectators (who inject an estimated $88.5M into visitor economy) to the banks of the Charles River to cheer the rowers on!
Spend the weekend watching the races from the comfort of the Eliot Bridge Enclosure. This by ticket only hospitality tent is located right on the river's edge and includes breakfast and hot coffee in the morning, a gourmet lunch, as well as a comfortable vantage point to watch crews as they come into the home stretch of the race.
Located near Harvard's Weld Boathouse between the Weeks and Lars Anderson Bridges, the Weld Exhibition is one of the Regatta's liveliest sites. Official Head Of The Charles® sponsors line the banks, offering delicious local flavors and free samples. Purchase your official Regatta Programs and Merchandise and check out up-to-date race results.
The Weld Exhibition also boasts one of the race's most exciting viewing sites-it's the perfect place to enjoy the Regatta. Find a spot along the banks and cheer your favorite crew through the race's halfway mark.
Parking for spectators, athletes, and volunteers is extremely limited. We advise anyone driving to carpool whenever possible. Parking and Public Transportation Map
