Founded in 1881, the Boston Symphony Orchestra is the largest orchestral organization in the world, encompassing the Boston Pops and the orchestra's summer home, Tanglewood. A standard bearer of the classical repertoire and one of the key supporters of 20th-Century music, the BSO performs at Symphony Hall from September through May, with concerts most Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings and on Friday afternoons.
