Path of Presidents

Greater Boston is home to a fascinating array of presidential artifacts, anecdotes and historical locales. The Path of Presidents connects these stories to create an overarching narrative revealing an unparalleled catalogue of presidential history in Greater Boston, from presidents who were born here, went to school here, or otherwise made an impact on this region.

From obvious locations such as Washington’s headquarters in Cambridge and John F. Kennedy’s birthplace in Brookline, to obscure homes that belonged to William Howard Taft and Grover Cleveland, the Path of Presidents will illustrate that almost every American president – including Jefferson, Lincoln, and both Roosevelts – came to Boston and influenced the city’s history, as Boston influenced theirs.

The Path of Presidents is a collaborative undertaking. Key stakeholders include the Massachusetts Historical Society, Old State House Museum, John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum, Freedom Trail Foundation, Discover Quincy, Cambridge Office for Tourism, and the Adams National Historical Park
