South Boston
Explore South Boston or as the locals say "Southie".
South Boston, the site of the Dorchester Heights National Historic site and Castle Island, was once a predominantly Irish Catholic neighborhood. With the development of hotels, restaurants and shopping surrounding the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (the BCEC), the community is now attracting families and young professionals. Once considered a part of the South Boston neighborhood, the breathtaking South Boston waterfront has emerged as it's own neighborhood, the Seaport District.
South Boston is home to the famed St. Patrick's Day Parade drawing leprechauns and revelers to the neighborhood from the city and beyond. It's not unusual to see a movie crew setup along the streets shooting a Hollywood blockbuster the likes of The Departed or Good Will Hunting.
